“Giving Thanks for Life’s Blessings” by Brother Jayananda
SRF minister Brother Jayananda discusses positive ways we can approach all life’s situations as yogis in order to be successful spiritually: “When we talk about thanksgiving or gratitude, these are attitudes really—ways of thinking, or ways of approaching life.” Drawing from Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings and his experiences with Sri Daya Mata, SRF’s beloved third president, Brother Jayananda explains that right attitudes are just as foundational to the science and practice of yoga as are right behaviors; and stresses that no matter what problems may occur, we can maintain an attitude of thankfulness to become aware of God’s guidance and protection.

A Special Message From Brother Chidananda: “Finding a Unity Deeper Than Race, Color, or Creed”
In lieu of our weekly online service, this week we are presenting a special message from SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda posted on the Self-Realization Fellowship Blog.
Speaking to the current situation in America and around the world, Brother Chidananda discusses the serious problem of racial injustice and divisiveness, and the way to address not only the symptoms but the cause of this disease facing humanity. He encourages those who meditate to be true peacemakers by producing peace first within themselves, through meditation, and then radiating that peace to others through spiritual actions that address the deep-rooted racial prejudices in our society.
Self-Realization Fellowship is offering a number of special events and activities to celebrate the Christmas season and Paramahansa Yogananda’s birthday.
Here are the special events we have planned for December and January. These will be available on our website and YouTube channel:
Monastic-Led One-Day Online Retreat – Saturday, December 5
We invite you to join SRF for an online monastic-led one-day retreat on Saturday, December 5. Two consecutive retreats will be held on this day — one for the Western Hemisphere and one for the Eastern Hemisphere — to allow participation across the globe.
On the SRF Online Meditation Center website you will find more information about event times in your time zone.
Christmas Satsanga With SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda – Saturday, December 12, 9:00 a.m. PST

Online All-Day Christmas Meditation – Saturday, December 19, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. PST
Paramahansa Yogananda inaugurated the custom of holding an all-day meditation service during the Christmas season to foster communion with the Christ Consciousness, which he said constitutes the true celebration of Christmas.
Led by SRF monastics, the meditation will continue to be available for viewing until Christmas Eve for those who are unable to join at this time.
New Year’s Eve Meditation – Thursday, December 31
Paramahansa Yogananda taught that the start of the New Year was an excellent time to reflect and make new determinations to manifest our worthwhile goals and aspirations. To aid us in this endeavor, he instituted the SRF tradition of ushering in the New Year with a special meditation service on December 31.
Led by an SRF monastic, this meditation will continue to be available after December 31.
